In My Weakness He Is Strong

In Psalm 142 Refuge when David was complaining to God. The Lord can handle your complaints, and he doesn’t want you to pretend. David was telling him all his troubles. Those troubles and personal anguish encounter adverse circumstances. David is complaining to God about his problems because he feels like he sees what he’s going through, but God is not doing anything about it. His refusal to help David is what he is complaining about.

David says, “God if you could help me why don’t you? I am in the cave. I’ve made choices that have hurt people. Everybody wants to kill me, and I thought I was going to be the king of Israel.”

Have you ever poured out your complaints to God?

God wants the real you.

How are we different from animals? We are the only part of his creation that he breathed into life, the breath of God entered us, and that is why I believe that we have a spirit and we are unique to the animals.

God was the only one that knew everything, and he knew David was in the midst of all of his pain, in the middle of all of this self-loathing guilt and shame, and he tried to do the right thing, and everything fell apart.

We all question God-like, “Where is God?” if there is God, where is he?” “Either God isn’t there, or he doesn’t care.” “I’ve been asking, but he hasn’t been answering.” God, you know everything, only you could understand it like, but why don’t you do something, Lord? You alone are my only hope. Lord if you know, why don’t you tell me where to go next? God if you know where I should go, couldn’t you whisper?

David is accusing God. He is crying out to God, and he is making accusations to God.

Satan hurts us because God loves us so much, and that is the only way he can harm God, by destroying us, and so that is why he does it. Undoubtedly, Satan is laying traps, and he is trying to entice us. It is a trap to be angry with somebody instead of focusing on godly things. God knows about all the pitfalls. What traps are you most vulnerable to?

David can’t see any help around him, and he says “I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought, no ‘one’s help me.”

God can handle your authenticity, and he can handle you precisely as you are, you don’t have to get ready for him. You can just come right to him.

David begins to shift a little bit, and he begins to look at God as his refuge.

David isn’t going to stay in this wrong place, and we are glad of that because he is showing us a way out. David gave us a window of how we can get through this.

David says, “God, you are my refuge and Lord, you’re all I want and all I need.”

Matt.6:33

33 Seek the Kingdom of God[a] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

God is all you have, and you will not know he is all you need. David finds a place, and he says, “God, you are all I want I just want you, nothing else matters, I rejoice in you.”

Lord, I am not good enough, not smart enough and Lord there is nothing you can’t do with my life if you want to do it. You love me completely. None of this stuff matters, all that matters here is our relationship with God.
