God, You Abandoned Me

As David writes Psalm 142 he has lost his wife, kingship, army, friends, and was betrayed. He has done some stupid things, and he was acting like crazy person and drooling all over himself.

Psalms 142:1
1 I cry out to the Lord;
I plead for the Lord’s mercy.
David wrote a poem in the cave of Adullam. He had been loud doing emotional anguish so that somebody might respond, and so David is crying out to God passionately, with vigor and wants God to answer.

I have a question for you today “What does God’s mercy look like? ”

Psalms 142:2
2 I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles.

I have good news for you, if you’ve ever been a misfit if you’ve ever been on the outside, and you found yourself in a place that you were complaining to God, or you want to complain to God.

I encourage you if you have complaints to God you can tell him, God can take it, he can handle your complains you can pour it out to him, and you don’t have to worry that you’re going to hurt his feelings because he already knows what’s inside of your heart. He already knows what you’re going through, and what got you there and he knows your ugly parts. He knows everything, and you can pour it out to him. If you’re angry, be angry. God wants to interact with you. He can handle your questions and handle your complaints. God can take it because you’re not fooling him, and this is what David is doing, he’s pouring out his grievances. You don’t have to be concerned about hurting God’s feelings. You don’t need to walk on eggshells around your God. God loves you, and he is your refuge.

It is God’s plan that you need him; it’s always been his plan that you come up short. It’s always been his plan that we would not be smart enough, and we would not be good enough, not passionate enough. It wouldn’t be a chance of us being sufficient, and It was always God’s plan for us to need him.

David is emotionally depressed, and he feels like a loser.

Now, I’d like you to chat with me on what traps you most vulnerable to. What does the enemy use to trap you? What is it about yourself that sticks you? Maybe there’s a personality trait, tempest, chemical addiction that holds you. David feels profoundly alone like there’s nobody there when he looks around, he can’t see any help.

Psalms 142:4
4 I look for someone to come and help me,
but no one gives me a passing thought!
No one will help me;
no one cares a bit about what happens to me.

The Lord himself watches you and he stands beside you on your right side. He protected and shaded you. God is the one that stands on the right side in all other cases.

Psalms 16:8
8 I know the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

David knows where he is vulnerable, and he looks to where he’s most vulnerable and says, “God, I don’t see you protecting me, and I’m angry.” He lost everything, and he is feeling more insecure than he has ever felt in his entire life.

When you feel God left you vulnerable, you probably haven’t served God enough. The scripture is so honest about David. David is beginning to speak to himself and say,” God, you are my refuge.”

Psalm 142:5
5 Then I pray to you, O Lord.
I say, “You are my place of refuge.
You are all I really want in life.

God is your refuge, and he is rescuing you. He is the only one that can deliver and save you, and so when you are low, your God is enough, God is all we have, and all we need.
