The Parable of the great feast “Distraction”

In the Parable of the Great Feast, distraction becomes the unseen enemy of divine invitation. Though the host prepares an abundant banquet, the invited guests are preoccupied—one with a new field, another with oxen, a third with a new marriage. Each excuse is a symbol of life’s busyness, comfort, or personal agenda that blinds them to the greater gift being offered. In this lens, distraction isn’t just about losing focus—it’s about missing out on God’s presence because lesser priorities have quietly stolen our attention. The feast remains ready, but the seats are filled by those who are willing to put aside their distractions for the joy of the Master’s table.

We do not judge

While we are not perfect in this regard, the one comment people say about us most often is that they never feel judged. We teach that sin is bad and look to the Bible to define sin. But we do it with a sense of humility and tenderness. The one thing we do best is preach the truth in a context of unconditional love. If your life doesn’t look at all like the Christian life that the Bible teaches, you can belong here while being encouraged to become more and more like Jesus every day.

Women are not discriminated against

At the Rock we believe women are equally capable of preaching and leadership as men.

You can belong before you believe

Our motto—which we love to put on signs and t-shirts—is “at the Rock you belong before you believe.” We believe that we can love and respect people without having to agree. So, even if you don’t believe in God at all, we would like to have you as part of our family. We trust God to reveal himself to you through the preaching and the way we live our lives.
