God hates our pride. It hinders our service to him. If you want to irritate him, start thinking you’re something that you’re not. Remember, you are not God. You are not perfect. This is not about you.

Every one of us can become obsessed with success. Even when people say they don’t care about succeeding, they still feel a bit of a disappointment when things don’t go their way. Sometimes God isn’t really interested in our success. He’s moved by our obedience and the advancement of his kingdom. John the Baptist understood this:

“He must become greater; I must become less.” – John 3:30

Anybody might be willing to be a success for God. They say, “Oh God, I’ll be a great preacher,” or “Lord, I’ll build this business for you,” etc. But what if success is not in our sights even if we always do our best for God? When we look at scripture, we see some servants of God experience things that look like failures during their time. God does that to us sometimes, but he has a purpose and a plan in all these things.

In Hebrews 11, you have a list of people who were obedient to God, who have died and gone to eternity never having seen the fruition of God’s promises to them. Sometimes we whine because we don’t get people saved fast enough or this isn’t happening soon enough. Here, the faith Hall of Famers of Hebrews 11 die having never seen the fulfillment of their faith.

The situation God has put you in is crucial to his plan for this world. It was always his plan that you have weaknesses. It is still his plan that you need him. It’s essential that you see your flaws as significantly as your strengths to accomplishing all that God wants you to do on this planet. No one will ever be exactly like you. You are God’s unique tool for your family, workplace, neighborhood, and for your kids.

Since you have these unique gifts—the church needs you. The church was never a building. It has always been a team. That’s why it’s not something we go to, it’s something that we are, and we are a team. It’s supposed to be a group of Christians coming together to figure out how to reach a dying world for Christ for without Jesus they will all go to hell.
