The simple and sad fact of the matter in this world is that people who die without a right relationship with Christ will go to hell. God gave Christians a severe and tremendous job—the Great Commission. God did not give us a small Commission but a Great Commission to go into all the world and preach the good news of God’s love and grace.
“When the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” – Matthew 28:16-20
The job is too crucial for us to think selfishly. In reality, our comfort is not God’s priority. Just like the famous Rick Warren book, it is not about us. We must not let our wealth and prosperity be a stumbling block in reaching our families, friends, strangers, and our city for Jesus. He’s willing to spend my life for his glory. I’m so grateful to him for saving me that I’m saying, “Yes Jesus! Spend my life. Take my life and get as much out of it as you possibly can.” Those comforts that occupy our minds? They are trivial. There’s nothing we can take to heaven except another person. Ten thousand years from now, no one’s going to care whether you got that promotion.
We should do everything we can, short of sin to reach sinners with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We must be wary of crime in our tactics, of course, but we must use the tools and resources God has provided so that people can hear about the Gospel.
“On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'” – Mark 2:17
We must pray for our strategies and for the people that Jesus has entrusted to us within our circle of influence. The authenticity of our faith is much more critical than our eloquence. We must continuously have a quiet time and study the Word of God to be more effective for this mission. We can tell unbelievers about our life before Christ and the difference knowing him has made for us. The story of our salvation can bring others to Christ and his love.
We are Jesus’ representatives here on earth, so we must do our best in representing him.
