A lot of these old hymns have got some incredible history in them. Incredible stories behind them about people who pushed ahead of us, and they serve God, and then they wrote these things down.
What a friend we have in Jesus. Here are some of the words of what a friend we have in Jesus. Our sins, grief’s to bear, and what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer. We’re talking about prayer to God, and if you think about it the entirety of Jesus is coming to planet Earth.
Why he came to earth?
Well, he came to save you so that you get to go to heaven. But you need to know he didn’t do that out of some obligation or because it was the right thing to do. He did it because he wanted a relationship with you because he likes you. How do you have a relationship with somebody? Well, it takes time and it takes communication. You need to interact with that person in different ways.
Sometimes things are occupying our brains that we don’t want to admit. If it is pushing its way into your mind, it’s important to you. If it’s important to you, it’s also important to God.
I hope that you will develop a genuine and sincere love for the presence of God through prayer. God has so much more for you. His presence is so vibrant. Our relationship with him is so all-consuming. If I can get you to taste it a little bit, your life would never be the same.
There are some misconceptions about prayer, one prayer complicated. Prayer is not about impressing somebody, prayer is you talking to God. Prayer is interaction, so forget about the formality of it focus your attention on doing it.
Because there is one inescapable requirement of prayer that you cannot get away from it, every relationship in your life, it takes time to support that relationship. Sometimes, people, they don’t pray because they feel like prayer is boring; they start to fall asleep. Sometimes we quickly get distracted when we are praying, but it takes the time it’s a spiritual discipline if it were easy everybody would do it.
John15:15 NLT
15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends since I have told you everything the Father told me.
He is the King of Kings the Lord of the Lords, and he wants a relationship with you he is a friend of sinners. We find a friend so faithful, who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness. Take it to the Lord in prayer. Have we trials temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer.
God values prayer so much that he made it part of his plan. John Wesley said this quote God limits himself and I’ve been quoting this for years didn’t realize Wesley and said it “God does nothing except in response to believing prayer” in other words God limits himself to your prayers you have not because you ask not, God wants to use you to bring his blessing to planet earth and prayer is the vehicle to do that I’m convinced that the entire reason that he limits himself to our prayers is because he loves you so much he’s baiting you actually to talk to him.
James 5:16 NLT
16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
Our prayers or whatever it might be you might be praying for your marriage, kids, job, etc. I don’t know what you’re praying for today, but whatever you need in your life, pray to God. The reason why your life hurts a lot it is because you haven’t taken the time to get to know the God of the universe who is hopelessly infatuated with you. You are in pain today because you don’t have a relationship with him.
It doesn’t mean that when you’re loving him and serving him you’re pain-free, what I’m saying is there is hope in your situation you still don’t understand what he is doing. I’ve never gotten mature to that point, but I’ll tell you this you’re in pain and most of your pain is because you haven’t even brought it to him.
True peace isn’t the absence of problems, true peace is found in the presence of God. God loves you and he is faithful, he is good and he holds your heart up when he needs you most.
