A new message series, Who Do You Think You Are?, reminds us that knowing who we are in Christ changes everything.
The Good News:
No matter what you’ve been told or how you feel, if you are in Christ, you are God’s masterpiece.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” —Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
The Bad News:
Most of us don’t believe it.
We compare ourselves to what we think a masterpiece should look like—Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam, a vintage Ferrari, or even a perfectly curated social media profile. But when we look in the mirror, we see thinning hair, unpaid bills, and a trail of unmet expectations. We feel like we’ll never be enough.
The early Christians in Ephesus knew what a masterpiece looked like—they walked past the Temple of Artemis daily, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was a constant reminder of grandeur and perfection. And yet, Paul reminded them: You are God’s masterpiece.
The Hard Truth:
Without Christ, we truly aren’t enough.
“Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins…” —Ephesians 2:1–3 (NLT)
Self-love slogans and motivational quotes can’t fix what’s broken. We don’t need more self-esteem—we need a Savior.
The Hope:
“But God is so rich in mercy… he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.” —Ephesians 2:4–5 (NLT)
In Christ, we’re not just okay—we’re redeemed, restored, and repurposed. You are more than enough because of Him.
