You can belong before you believe
Our motto—which we love to put on signs and t-shirts—is “at the Rock you belong before you believe.” We believe that we can love and respect people without having to agree. So, even if you don’t believe in God at all, we would like to have you as part of our family. We trust God to reveal himself to you through the preaching and the way we live our lives.
You can belong before you believe” is a concept that suggests that individuals can feel a sense of belonging to a group or community, even if they do not fully subscribe to the group’s beliefs or practices. This concept is often discussed in the context of religious or spiritual communities, where individuals may feel a sense of connection and belonging to a particular faith community, even if they are not yet convinced of all the tenets of that faith.
One of the key benefits of this concept is that it allows individuals to explore and learn about different belief systems without feeling pressured to fully commit or adopt a certain set of beliefs. This can lead to more open-mindedness, empathy, and understanding towards people from different backgrounds and beliefs.
In addition, belonging to a community can provide social support, a sense of purpose, and a feeling of connectedness that can be beneficial for mental health and wellbeing.
However, it is important to note that there can be limitations to this concept, and individuals should still strive to be respectful and mindful of the beliefs and practices of the community they are joining. It is also important to engage in honest and open dialogue with the community and oneself to explore and clarify one’s beliefs and values.
Overall, “you can belong before you believe” is a concept that promotes inclusivity, openness, and empathy towards others, and can be a valuable tool for building relationships and fostering personal growth.
