Hailey, a model, and wife to pop star Justin Bieber are facing criticism this week after inquiring her followers for Halloween costume suggestions. According to Intouch Weekly, the 22-year-old model – who is honest about her Christian – took to her Instagram story on Thursday to ask her 22.7 million followers and asked what she should dress up as for this coming Halloween. She wrote, “Spooky szn is upon us, and I need good ideas for Halloween!! Send some my way.”
Hailey also shared photos of some of her previous Halloween costumes, including Workout Barbie and Sandy from Grease. The seemingly innocent request sparked a backlash from some of her followers, causing a handful even to question her Christian faith. e person – who was puzzled by Hailey’s involvement in the highly controversial holiday for people of faith – replied to her story inquiring, “Aren’t u a Christian?” Hailey announced a simple response saying, “Yes, I still dress up for Halloween.”
Another person went as far as to allege Hailey of being a “FAKE CHRISTIAN.” Hailey wrote back, saying, “Our future kids are gonna celebrate too :).”
some people have come to her defense involving Light Workers writer Reid, Kenneth. In an article on LightWorkers.com, Reid defended Hailey by breaking through why he believes Christians should celebrate Halloween. He wrote, “I heard a preacher say that as Christians, we should interact with the world in one of three ways. We can either reject, receive, or redeem the things of this world. “As it pertains to Halloween, to celebrate it as is, to ‘reject’ it means not to participate at all ‘receive’ it means to embrace and to ‘redeem’ it means to approach it with a uniquely Christian perspective.” Reid claimed that while he never contributed to Halloween as a child, he has decided to let his children play a part so that they can redeem the holiday by marking it as “an innocent, fun and tasty way to spend time with their families.” Bieber has not made any additional comments on the situation.
